ARTISTIC STATEMENT

Focused, fierce, and fully immersed, is the dancer I am constantly striving to be.

As a perfectionist, dance is an art form that can never be perfected, so it will give me a forever drive.

I have always loved school, therefore, dancing will allow me to always be a teacher, and a student, at the same

time

I describe my personal style as a mixture of contemporary and jazz with influences of commercial dance.

Within the realm of commercial dance, I believe in the aspects of a dancer with a strong stage presence, but with

an equally strong technical background.  Growing up bouncing back and forth between competition studios,

ballet studios, and ballroom studios I have learned to be an adaptable and moldable dancer.  My

training was a melting pot of experiences.

I thrive from working with song lyrics because music is the base for dance, and I want to create the visual for

the song. I see the lyrics as a storyboard for my movement.

I want to teach dancers to be aware of their bodies and flow between fluidity and sharpness.

I emphasize utilizing quick twitch muscles and syncopation that is very beat driven, within the

musical realm.

I relish in highlighting the entertainment and escapism that dance can provide for both the dancers and the

viewer.  I want to take people away from their everyday lives, and bring them into the world that I have created.

It is the passion for the art that gives me the drive to claim everyday as my own, and make every room my

stage.

Research in Arts Management

I am in the process of earning my master's in Performing Arts Leadership and Management. I am passionate about how we are dancers and people can make our community (aka the dance world) a safer place.
